THE ROLE
The ERP Implementation Manager will have end-to-end responsibility for the strategic leadership, technical direction, and operational management of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central across the organisation.
This is a senior leadership role, ideally suited to a candidate with a strong background in Business Central development who has progressed into solution ownership and team leadership. The role combines deep technical expertise, Business Central implementation leadership, structured project management, outsourcing and partner governance, and robust IT system management aligned to ISO 27001 principles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Central Ownership & Strategy
- Own the architecture, roadmap, and technical direction of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Act as the primary authority for solution design, customisations, extensions, and integrations
- Lead upgrades, releases, testing strategies, and controlled change delivery
Business Central Implementations
- Take end-to-end responsibility for Business Central implementations and major phased rollouts
- Lead solution design, data migration, integrations, testing, and go-live activities
- Own post-go-live stabilisation and continuous improvement
Technical Leadership
- Provide leadership across Business Central, Microsoft 365, Power Automate, and Azure
- Define and enforce technical standards, architecture, and documentation
Project & Delivery Management
- Deliver initiatives using standard project management practices
- Manage scope, timelines, risks, and stakeholder expectations
Team Building & Leadership
- Build and lead an internal Business Central / Business Systems team
- Define roles, skills, and development plans
Outsourcing & Partner Management
- Manage outsourced development, support, and implementation partners
- Govern delivery quality, cost control, and knowledge transfer
IT Governance & Security
- Ensure systems operate in line with ISO 27001 principles
- Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance requirements
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- 10+ years experience with Dynamics NAV / Business Central
- Background originating from a development role
- Proven Business Central implementation leadership
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Power Automate, and Azure
- Strong team leadership and outsourcing experience
- Experience working with structured project management practices
- ISO 27001 aligned IT governance experience
Desirable
- Manufacturing or supply chain experience
- ERP replacement or re-implementation experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in IT or equivalent experience
- Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer Associate (MB-820) and/or Functional Consultant Associate (MB-800)
- Azure or Power Platform certifications advantageous
