About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant with strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric to join our growing data and analytics team. Join a high-performing delivery team working on secure, data-driven government projects. This is a hands-on contract role with immediate impact.
This role involves designing, developing, and delivering scalable business intelligence solutions in secure environments. Candidates must hold an active Australian security clearance (Baseline, NV1, or NV2).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
- Work with Microsoft Fabric components including Data Factory, Dataflows, Lakehouse, and Warehouse
- Build and optimize semantic models and data pipelines
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into data solutions
- Ensure data governance, security, and compliance within secure environments
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and other access controls in Power BI
- Optimize report performance and data refresh strategies
- Provide technical guidance and best practices to internal teams
- Document solutions and maintain high standards of data quality
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer/Consultant
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (end-to-end ecosystem)
- Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data architecture
- Experience implementing security models in Power BI (RLS, object-level security)
- Ability to work in environments requiring strict security compliance
Mandatory Requirements
- Active Australian Security Clearance: Baseline, NV1, or NV2
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
Nice to Have
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI deployments
- Familiarity with DevOps practices
- Certifications in Power BI, Azure, or Microsoft Fabric
- Experience in government or highly regulated industries
