The Role
Emeria UK is appointing a Modern Workplace Lead Engineer to take technical ownership of the organisation’s Microsoft 365 and End User Computing platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and aligned to business needs.
Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, this role is accountable for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of core workplace technologies including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Intune, and Entra ID.
This is a senior technical role responsible for driving standardisation, automation, and modern device management through Autopilot and Intune. The role acts as the subject matter expert for the modern workplace, ensuring the environment evolves in line with business requirements while maintaining strong governance, security, and operational stability.
Key Accountabilities
Own and manage the Microsoft 365 platform, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Copilot
Lead the design and implementation of modern device management using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot
Manage and optimise identity and access through Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access and security policies
Drive automation across the environment using PowerShell, Power Platform, and other tooling to improve efficiency
Define and enforce governance, security, and compliance standards across Microsoft 365 and endpoint management
Act as the technical authority and escalation point for Microsoft 365 and modern workplace technologies
Drive adoption and best use of Microsoft 365 tools across the organisation
Collaborate with IT Operations to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing services
Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve productivity through technology
Support and lead technical delivery of M&A integrations, including tenant consolidation, device migration, and identity alignment
Maintain technical documentation, standards, and roadmap for the modern workplace platform
Engage with Microsoft and third-party vendors to align with product roadmap and best practices
Support M&A activity, including due diligence, planning, and integration of systems, users, and processes
Person Specification
Experience
Proven experience in a senior Microsoft 365 / Modern Workplace engineering role
Strong hands-on experience with Intune, Autopilot, and endpoint management at scale
Experience managing Microsoft Entra ID, identity lifecycle, and access controls
Strong experience with Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive
Experience delivering automation using PowerShell and/or Power Platform
Experience delivering tenant migrations, device rollouts, or M&A integration projects
Skills & Capabilities
Deep technical expertise across Microsoft 365, Intune, Autopilot, and Entra ID
Strong automation mindset with the ability to remove manual processes and improve efficiency
Excellent problem-solving skills within complex, enterprise environments
Ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure technical solutions
Strong communication skills, able to influence stakeholders and drive adoption
