As part of the expansion of our Innovation and Legal Technology function we are seeking a Solutions Engineer to design, build and enhance business applications and workflow platforms across the firm. The role will focus on delivering scalable, data-driven solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, SharePoint, Power BI, and SQL).
The successful candidate will work across internal and client-facing initiatives, contributing to process automation, data modelling and AI-enabled solutions.
The role provides a structured progression path into software engineering and solution architecture, including JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET and Azure services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build applications using Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), with a focus on usability, data integrity and scalability
- Develop and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate, including integrations across Microsoft 365 and internal and external systems
- Design and manage structured data models using Dataverse, SharePoint and SQL to support applications and reporting
- Develop dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Work with legal and business teams to translate requirements into structured, scalable technical solutions
- Support the full application lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment and change management across Dev, UAT and Production environments
- Contribute to platform standards, documentation and continuous improvement of the firm’s technology estate
- Ensure solutions align with security, governance and compliance requirements (including ISO 27001 controls)
- Develop capability in:
- Power Fx, JavaScript and TypeScript
- API integrations (Microsoft Graph and REST APIs)
- Azure services and cloud-based development patterns
- AI-enabled solutions, including Microsoft Copilot and agent-based workflows.
Requirements
The successful should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in application development (academic or commercial); working knowledge of programming concepts (JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or similar)
- An understanding of relational data structures (SQL, Dataverse or equivalent)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience in the following areas is also desirable:
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dynamics 365)
- Power BI or other data visualisation tools
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
- Exposure to API integrations and cloud-based development
- Experience in a professional services or regulated environment and
- An interest in AI technologies, including Microsoft Copilot or Azure OpenAI.
